A collection of work from artist and illustrator Gigi Rose Gray. Initially from New York and now working in Los Angeles, Grey acquired her BFA from Parsons New Faculty for Design. Her work explores a long-time fascination with crowds. Influenced by her upbringing in midtown Manhattan, Grey hones in on the fleeting moments between passersby, capturing not solely their short-term closeness however the phantasm of connection inherent in such unusually intimate interactions:
“There’s a voyeuristic nature in navigating crowded streets of a metropolis if one takes a second to look upon the faces they brush previous on a regular basis. Strangers in such shut proximity, sharing this frequent ritual but foregoing any connection to 1 one other. This sequence seeks to do exactly that by way of the non-public and nearly uncomfortably up shut portrayal of characters expressions and gestures, every revealing an emotive but isolating world of their very own.”
