A choice of work depicting acquainted, quotidian areas by UK-based artist Ryan Brown. From public parks and suburban gardens to alleyways and residential streets, Brown creates scenes of “muted city stillness” the place flowers, animals and partially obscured individuals create momentary disruptions:
“The locations in my work are pieced collectively from drawings and images and in addition recollections and impressions of areas I’ve encountered previously. These composites are simplified, smoothed out to foreground the solitude of the topics current inside them.
