TORONTO — Liberty Leisure Group’s (LEG) newest restaurant idea, DaNico, has opened at 440 Faculty Avenue in Toronto.
The 60-seat restaurant is helmed by govt chef Daniele Corona, who was beforehand govt chef of LEG’s Don Alfonso 1890 Toronto. Below his management, Don Alfonso 1890 was awarded a Michelin star in 2022; named Finest Italian Restaurant within the World 2021 by 50 Prime Italy; and awarded Meal of the 12 months 2021 Mulino – Caputo Award for its multi-course prix-fixe tasting menu.
At DaNico, chef Corona’s signature menu focuses on the trendy Italian culinary custom, mixed with trendy Asian influences. Standouts from its signature tasting menu embrace micro-tortellini filled with Ontario lamb braised in Barbera wine, caramelized crimson onion, smoked eel and recent mint; wild black cod steamed and deglazed with miso, white asparagus, sturgeon oscetra caviar and vermouth sauce; and strawberry panna cotta, rhubarb marinade, goat ice cream, vanilla sable and olio d’oliva. Highlights from its à la carte menu embrace wild North American snapper in confit fashion, olio d’oliva, charred artichoke, green-pepper sauce and black garlic; spaghetti ai funghi locali e tartufo nero; and Nova Scotia lobster with Sicilian caponata, buffalo-mozzarella foam, basil pesto and lobster discount.
DaNico’s wine program is offered by the glass or bottle or as a part of a traditional or premium wine pairing to enrich the tasting menu. The wine listing options greater than 450 labels. A collection of revamped traditional cocktails can also be obtainable.
Designed by Nadia Di Donato, VP Inventive director at LEG, DaNico is housed within the previous Scotiabank constructing, and the unique financial institution vault now holds wine. Notable particulars embrace an entryway marked by towering wooden doorways, steel-pillared window remedies that resemble the pipes of a church organ, a 27-foot copper pillar and an expensive eating space with easy and comfy velvet banquettes.
