I had the pleasure of assembly Michael Bennett in Honolulu final month, through the Hawai’i Walls artwork pageant. I beforehand solely knew him as one of many Seattle Seahawks’ defensive linemen and was delighted to be taught he’s now exploring artwork and structure as Artistic Director of Studio Kër. Led by his ardour for the atmosphere, Bennett created a sculpture that was put in at Palama Settlement through the pageant.
“City Decay” examines each the layers of our planet and of ourselves, and seeks to focus on the waste we’re continually providing again to the earth. Bennett describes the work as “figuring out the complexity of what we go away behind and Earth’s dexterity in preserving us collectively”. I’m excited to see the place he goes from right here.
