Carlos Mendes, who works underneath the title CIAS, is a painter and tattoo artist with a penchant towards historical artwork historical past. “Cias reinterprets the good works of the masters of artwork, pigmenting the skins of their fashions with all of the symbolism of the tales they carry,” the gallery says. “Works by Michelangelo, Caravaggio or Bernini are coated by varied kinds of tattoos, from the Maori to the spiritual, with the intention of reinforcing the message that tattooing is an ancestral artwork type.”
