Chris Berens brings his distinctive mix of portray and collage to Jaski Gallery in Amsterdam with the present “Feniks.” Amongst these new works is an enormous “Crowning Glory,” for which the artist constructed a hand-crafted picket body. (Berens was featured within the “Turn the Page: The First Ten Years of Hi-Fructose” exhibition.) “Feniks” kicks off on Dec. 7 and runs by means of Dec. 22.
The gallery gives some perception into his course of: “Berens developed a posh and time consuming portray approach as a strategy to obtain the end result he aimed: with the preliminary thought for a brand new work, Chris paints each element time and again on the coated layer of a shiny paper. All his works are hand painted. He makes use of ink and various kinds of varnish. He then cuts out fragments, separates the coating layer from the underlying paper, and stacks and unifies them on a bigger panel into one picture. He retains on doing so till the picture has reached its vacation spot.”
