
Bisa Butler presents new narrative quilts with two reveals this spring, at Claire Oliver Gallery and her first solo museum effort at The Katonah Museum of Artwork. The fiber artist creates startling portraits and scenes with material, along with her work typically being mistaken for work. An prolonged function on her work seems in Hi-Fructose Vol. 54. Her gallery present runs Feb. 29 via April 18, and her museum present runs March 15 via June 14.



On the museum 25 items shall be exhibited in a survey of her work so far, from the primary quilt she made again in 2000 to current items. The vast majority of items within the exhibition made between 2015 and 2019. “Most of my items take 300 to 400 hours to finish so there many many lengthy hours of labor that went into this exhibit,” she not too long ago instructed us. The exhibition is organized by the museum’s affiliate curator, Michele Wije.
