The Bowtie

The Bowtie is a variant of tie which began to appear during the 19th century. It is in the form of a band of fabric tied in a way to form two symmetrical furls at the level of the shirt collar, and recalls the form of a butterfly; it gets its name from the famous Madame Butterfly.

Though today this is a relatively marginal tie, it is generally worn for great occasions such as weddings and receptions... the bowtie is the surest way to set you apart in fashion. In fact, most me who wear the bowtie do so because other men do not. Otherwise, this is an accessory that is privileged in professions where one must bend over regularly, such as food service and medicine. It is inseparable from certain ensembles, such as the tuxedo...

In the current market, we often find two types of bowties: the "beater" and the "butterfly". The beater presents extremities that are square or lightly rounded whereas the butterfly presents pointed extremities. These two models can be presented in the manner of a band of tissue either to be knotted or pre-knotted.
